Opening the Sea Tree fish and chip shop in Cambridge's Mill Road during 2009, was the fulfilment of an ambition held for over 35 years by David Farrell. With a second opening later, the branches soon won both loyal customers and national accolades for their authentic taste of traditional fish and chips.
During David's tenure, the shop was a finalists in the BBC Food & Farming Best Takeaway of the Year and awarded Highly Commended Newcomer by The National Federation of Fish Friers.
Following their sale, both Sea Tree outlets continue to provide the same delicious menu and personal service, based on David's original idea.
For David, retirement beckoned. Or so he thought!
Fast forward to today and David and his team are taking their long-held passion for quality produce out on to the street.
Ocean Tree looks set to deliver excellence in customer service and outstanding quality meals.
With a custom built and designed fish and chip van, Ocean Tree offers the villages across South Cambridgeshire and North Hertfordshire the opportunity to dine on cooked-to-order delicacies, fresh from the fryer and straight to the plate.
What makes Ocean Tree special?
David Farrell trained as a chef in his twenties and went on to work in kitchens in Hertfordshire and Spain before settling back in the UK.
After a brief spell working in a fish and chip shop, David settled into family life with a job in the food supply industry.
Following redundancy, in 2009 David finally realised the dream of managing his very own fish and chip shop and the rest, as they say, is history.
